I have recently upgraded my AVG 2011 to 2012. No problems, it works perfectly.

But for the first time in my life I have had an AVG "High Memory" alert panel pop up from the tray.

I have had many high memory alerts, but always from Windows NOT an AV program. The alert said that Firefox was using too much memory and to reboot my PC.

When I Googled the problem, it transpires that many users have complained about this. The answer is that AVG have now included an "AVG Adviser performance notification" display. Heaven only knows what else they will alert upon. The solution is this :-

- Open AVG user interface and select Tools>Advanced Settings>Appearance.
- Untick the "Display AVG Advisor performance notifications" option under the System tray notifications.
- Click Apply>OK to save any changes.
- This will disable both the notifications and memory usage monitoring.
- Panel gone !
