My lad got made redundant today unfortunately and rang me for advice.

I found this very informative site for him.

If you find yourself in a similar position please consider reading it.

(Strictly for the brits only folks sorry)

Redundancy Support Redundant ? Legal Advice? Unemployed ? Fired ? Terminated ! Sacked? (http://www.redundancyhelp.co.uk/what_is_redundancy.htm)

It might be good if members can offer advice with regard to their particular countries legislation on this issue.

Sorry to hear that Wolfey - it makes life so much harder when you have to rush to get a job - I have been made redundant 3 out of my 5 jobs
I think its more of a reassurance thing that he doesn't have to rush and get a job and get a job that he wants to do.

Cheers Dave and yes he has Doug, he's putting a brave face on but I know he's seriously worried.
One good thing though is he can now drive so that will aid him in a new direction.

Thanks guys.

Keep us posted Bob. It's rough being out of work.

Reading through the post and the link... we call it "downsizing" here in the US.

Best of luck to your son.

Depending on the sector he works in there are some big companies feeling the 'credit crunch' at the moment.
