I would like to thank DSTM (Dougie) for making me aware of this.
Most modern photocopiers have a hard drive that stores every document or picture copied, this means that when the machine becomes redundant or is replaced and the old one sold on the second hand market, any sensitive documents can be obtained from them.

If your doctor, insurance company, or even the police sell on their old copier without doing something about removing that data, your personal details are at risk of falling into criminal hands.
