Black screen

When I start my computer, it does the memory test and seconds after stops working. I have a black screen and it looks like the PC is stuck doing nothing.

I am thinking that a composant is dead but how to be sure?

I tried to restart the PC with a CD of windows but nothing better happens. I think there is a way to force the PC loading the CD when starting. Is it not alt+F4?

I am thinking about disconnecting all composants of the PC and rebuild it. Will it help?

Thanks for your help.

I think you mean components of your computer.

Post back here the last few lines written to the screen before it becomes 'stuck'. Check whether there is a disc in any of your floppy or optical drives. If there is a hardware problem, it is usually the CD/DVD drives or a hard drive that causes this wait.
