Blocked Graphics

I find that anything I download has the grahics ommitted, and the browser will not let me see them even when I click on the option to show content. I have XP and plenty of ram and disk space. I also found recently that a web page I have started building in Word has also stopped showing the pictures when I open it, even though everything is in the same file.
Help please. I'm a retired user, and experienced but not a professional, so please not too technical.
Many thanks.

Hello Bridget.

One or more of the following should fix the problem:

1) Upgrade to IE7. It's much more secure, has a phishing filter, and tabbed browsing.

2) In IE 7, go to tools, internet options, advanced, restore advanced advanced settings. Once that's done, reset the IE settings from the option just below.

3) Update your flash from www.macromedia.com as well as your java from www.java.com.
