I have downloaded some "Palm" programs for a Palm lllc I got for Christmas. Ever since I can't get any web pages to print. I must Copy-paste-print in word or some other program.

I'm Running XP

would appreciate any suggestions to fix this problem.

Oh my - this is very strange indeed. Tell us, when you are on a web page and go to FILE/PRINT, what comes up? I'm especially interested in what printer comes up.

thanks for the quik response. I get the regular print dialoque box, it even starts the printer but the sheet comes out blank. This happens to all web based pages. Word and excel or word pad work ok.

Might not be the correct answer, but let me add this. I've seen instances where web pages didn't print out correctly. Sometimes this is because there are several 'frames' on the web site. When you try to print, it gets confusing.

I'm not saying this is the case in your instance - I'm only offering some (maybe) help,

So try right--clicking on the web page that you want to print. I'm sorry I don't have one up to experiment with. See what the options are and see if you can figure it out - then definably get back to us.

only standard dialoque box comes up
Back
Forward
view page source
save page as

etc.

nothing I do seems to make a difference.

Also when I go to printer properties > ports this printer is set to DOT4 - I've never heard of that

Yes the DOT4 is correct and has been around a long time.

When you say it won't print do you mean pictures or it won't print anything including text?

In IE you typically can select in Print Preview at the top center and select AS Laid out on screen or Shrink To Fit

You can also look in Internet Explore settings
Tools -- Internet Options -- Advanced -- (then scroll down about the middle for Printing) and select "Print background colors and images"

Thank you - yes that works for IE - I should have told you that I'm using Foxfire a my Browser

When i load a site in Foxfire and go to File>Print it goes thru all the motions back a blank sheet comes out.

I have even tried highlighting the page and the File>Print>selection - still nothing.

Do you think reloading Foxfire would help. Our Area only has Dial up ISP so this would be a last resort.

Hi R
L

I have upgrade to firefox 2.0.0.11, no difference. I have also checked http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problems_printing_web_pages but have found nothing there that makes a difference.

btw: for what it is worth about the same time Google earth would not load, something about lack of activeX compatibility.

This may be related. Although I have since removed Google Earth but the problem persists.

OK ylind;
You say this problem started after downloading "some Palm programs".
"for what it's worth" it was also about the same time google earth wouldn't install.
The error activeX compatibility concerns me.
On the link I provided did you look into the second one "Does not print to paper at all"?

You could try several different things:
Make sure you have all the Windows updates.
Uninstall everything you downloaded and installed that might be conflicting.
Go to Control Panel and remove your printer.
Reinstall your printer.
Go to HP support and look for updated drivers for your printer.
Perform a System Restore to before this problem started.

I won't go into malware problems because there is only an extremely remote chance that is an issue in this case. Of course I don't know what Palm programs or anything else you installed. Or what protection you have.

In any case you could try some of the above and see if you have any luck.

Did you go to Add/Remove programs and delete Firefox and then restart the computer and download Firefox and let it reinstall?

Okay so there are no Add-ons for Firefox installed are there?

Okay, let's try another version of Firefox

Uninstall Firefox and reboot.

Please download this beta version of Firefox

Firefox Beta

English (US) English (US) 3.0b2

From my understanding the Gecko rendering engine is not as robust as the IE for printing.
Firefox 3 is supposed to have an updated engine.

Try this and let us know how it goes.
