CD's won't load

Hi there,
Can someone help please. Out of the blue my CD and DVD drives won't let me load new programmes via these two drives. I hear the drive whirl and the tiny cd appears at the end of the cursor. All then stops and nothing appears on my screen. I am sure I have changed a setting somewhere, but where? Two drives cannot have gone faulty at once.
Please hep. Its driving me crazy

Have you tried right clicking the cd drive in "my computer"? Then to the autoplay settings.
