Hello,
I have two hard drives in my system (80G & 40G) a CD drive as well as a DVD, 256K of memory, 2G chip and XP with SP2.

The problem I have is that the DVD will play cd's but it will NOT play DVD's with any sound.
The video side of the DVD is fine - just no sound.
I have checked and re-checked and there are no conflicts shown in device manager and trouble shooting shows up nothing either.

I have Re-installed XP just in case that was the problem plus updated all the drivers but still no sound on playing a DVD.

Hi folks,

Well I have tried all of the above suggestions and I am pleased to say that the one about downloading the codec's has worked.......................Yippee

I now have sound on DVD's and CD's, brilliant !!!!!.

Apparently there were two broken codec's which the download detected and fixed.

Thanks for all your help, without it I would have been stumbling on for ages and then probably given up as a bad job.

Thanks again.............Lands (Les)
