memory card reader

hi i have a philips ls1400 base unit with a built in memory card reader and compact flash i have xp sp2 running on my machine 620gb harddrive 1024mb memory and a 3.20 processor
when i insert an sd memory card which the memory card reader does accept it does nothing you double click on icon and comes up insert disk when the memory card is already inserted
ive tried unistalling drivers and reinstalling again nothing changes
ive gone on to troubleshoot manager and it says device is working properly
any ideas anyone
much appreciated

It sounds like a definite hardware fault with the card reader. If your machine is still under warranty, contact Phillips' technical support to resolve this issue. Under the terms of the warranty, they should repair or replace the offending component.
