Memory going missing

Hey, for a while now my gig memory has slowly been going down without downloading things the other day I came back after leaving it on overnight and 1 gig has either been filled or taken? I have no idea any help would be much appreciated

i believe you are getting confused between physical ram (random access memory) and hard drive memory(storage space)...
if you are not downloading anything but the free space is filling up, you may have a self replicating worm.
have you done anti virus scans.
try this online one www.trendmicro.com
also download ewido update it and do a complete system scan,remove all entries found,,,download it from here www.ewido.com.
post back with your findings.
