ROM stands for "read only memory", so DVD-ROM means it has DVD reading capabilities not writing. You will need to choose a laptop with a "DVD rewriter" (also known as a DVD burner) to be able to burn and read DVD discs.

Personally, I'd strongly advise that you don't buy a laptop from PC World. Their technical support is notoriously bad and the laptops are of poor build quality. Instead, here's a list of worthy laptops for consideration. They all feature DVD burners.

HP laptop: 1.4 GHz Celeron M; 512 MB RAM; 60 GB hard drive; DVD burner; WiFi £365
Fujistu Siemens laptop: 1.6 GHz Celeron M; 512 MB RAM; 60 GB hard drive; DVD burner; WiFi £375
Lenovo laptop: 1.6 GHz Celeron M; 512 MB RAM; 80 GB hard drive; DVD burner; WiFi; fingerprint reader £380
Acer laptop: 2.0 GHz Turion; 512 MB RAM; 80 GB hard drive; DVD burner; WiFi; card reader £390

They all have free shipping from Ebuyer and I can personally vouch that they will all be far better choices than those from PC World. If it was me, I'd get the Lenovo - they're build quality is amazing and the fingerprint reader is a nice feature.
