Hi , im looking for some advice , I currently have this gaming laptop https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/medion-p6681-core-i7-7500u-8gb-1tb-geforce-gtx-1050-15.6-inch-windows-10-ga-30022545/version.asp and im looking at buying a monitor so I can game on a larger screen . I have recently found this monitor Asus VA326N-W 31.5" Full HD 144Hz Curved Gaming | Box.co.uk and wondering if I will just be able to plug in it via hdmi and get going , I plug my laptop into my tv to watch things but I have never tried an actual pc monitor and I have herd that I could have an issue sometimes with monitors of 144hz . Total novice at this type of thing so any help would be very much appreciated thanks

Hi and welcome to FpcH

I would have a problem with that monitor because my non-gaming laptop only has a refresh rate of 60Hz.
Check what refresh rates you have available on your laptop.
Right click on the Desktop
Click on "Display Settings"
Scroll down and look for "Advanced Display Settings" [ click on this ]
Click on " Display Adapter Propeties for Display 1"
Then click on "Monitor"
If "Hide Modes ...etc" is checked - uncheck it.
Click the down-arrow [ where mine says 60Hz]
Is 144Hz an option?
.Check the box again so that modes are hidden.
