Have wiped hard disk on old win 98 computer. Loaded up win 98 os but discovered I did not have product key. I have win me with product key. How do I remove win 98 from system to allow win me instal. Tried just installing and it came up with ''win98 on system cannot allow me to load - it must be an upgrade version to allow install ??''

ahhhhhhh that old chestnut !

backup any data you need first.
WINME *should* format your disk and install itself for you.
BOOT from your WINME cd and choose to format the disk / overwrite C:.
Good luck
