pc wont boot up

Hi im using windows xp home edition my friend was using pc the other nite i dont know what she done but all i get now when i put it on is missing operating system pri master says none can anyone help

Oh dear! It sounds like your friend has either done something nasty on purpose or did something terrible by accident. It may be that the power or ribbon cables connected to your hard drive have become loose. Open up the case with the computer turned off and check that they are securely connected.

If that doesn't rectify the problem, you may have been struck down by a virus or other nasty piece of malware that has corrupt Windows on your hard drive. The only solution is to reinstall your operating system. This will wipe out any data that remains on the hard drive.

If you need to recover some data, your best option is to take it to your local trustworthy computer store and ask them to do it for you. Or a computer savvy friend might be able to help. If you want to do it yourself, just post here and I'll get back to you with further instructions.
