Hello,

when i try to turn my pc on standby, the screen goes black, but the pc and the fans still keep on going, and it still keeps on making that noisy sound that the fans make. It comes out of standby normally.

I would really appreciate your help :)

heres some system information

Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition. Version 2002, Service Pack 2
BIOS: Phoenix - Award BIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.0GHz
Memory: 1024MB RAM

I have F-Secure antivirus program installed.
I also have BitTorrent :p

Thanks, iliveinatoilet :)

Hi;
I love your name. Really funny. Fans these days should be really quiet. Open up your PC and see if there is any dust or built up gunk inside. Especially the fans.

Are you using Start / Shut Down and then choosing Standby?

Did going to Standby ever work properly?

The standby is controlled by the main board's BIOS (Setup). When you first turn on the computer, the black screen with white letters is the bios. To access that program, watch the screen and you'll see something like Press F1 (or F2 or Del) to enter Setup. Once in there, go into the power options. You should see a heading that refers to Standby and will show S1,S2,S3
options. You want to choose S3 and save the changes. S3 means standby to memory with the fans off. If you can't find it, post back with what headings are in the power options.

Also keep in mind, that some main boards will not allow an S3 Standby to Memory.
