Problems Converting MS Excel (telephone.xls) to MS Outlook Contacts

I'm trying to import my telephone.xls file into my MS Outlook Contact folder. The problem I'm having is that each consecutive column of the telephone.xls file falls into the proper column in the Contact folder but only begins on the row following the row of the last entry of the previous column.

Therefore all the data is imported to MS Outlook Contact Folder but each item is on a separate row.

Can anyone advise how I can fix this.
