Hey, I think I need to completely restart my computer. Wipe it clean then start again.

There's some bizarre problem going on and I tried a system restore but it hasn't done anything.
I'm using an Acer 1360 laptop, I've had it 2 years and have only ever done a defrag or two on it. My OS is Windows XP.
How do I wipe it and start again?

you will have probarbly got a disc with your laptop when you bought it that says something like "system recovery disc" on it
put it in your cd drive and turn the computer on
it should bring up a wizard and you will be able to restore your computer to the state it was when you bought it
