Did you change any jumper settings or anything like that on the drive?

Uninstall the drive from Device Manager, reboot and the drive will be installed again. See how that works out.

For autoplay, right click on the drive, choose properties and put a check in the autoplay option.

Try the drive on a different connector on the ribbon cable. and jump it as Cable Select (CS). Also check the pins on the drive's ide connector to make sure no pins are bent.

Hi People;
I believe in Vista you have to set your auto play choices from the control panel.
Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Autoplay.
If Control Panel is in classic view just open AutoPlay.

Of course that won't help if you can't use the drive. There is a firmware update for your drive but I don't know if that will help.
