Really need help folks!!!
Recently bought new Dell desktop for in-laws. They were having problems with TalkTalk and wanted me to install BT dial-up software. I did this however, after the installation ran the desktop went balnk except for the Dell wallpaper, ie all icons/shortcuts disappeared as did the Start/Taskbar at the bottom!
I have tried re-booting but still nothing. However, shortcuts, etc., present in Safe Mode.
Can I do a System Restore from Safe Mode or does anyone have any other suggestions.
Also, BT dial-up software not present.

Hope you can help. Many thanks in advance

It looks like you have to fix the boot record again. I have heard this is quite common.

Try the fix that is in the topic under Missing Desktop/Taskbar/Start button in XP....
